The solution
Returnbox
This year, Aalborg Municipality's Sustainability Festival marked an important milestone for New Loop. During the festival, we had the pleasure of presenting and pilot testing our Returnbox and associated web app, a solution that makes it easy for citizens to return recyclable packaging and get the deposit back.
Part of the circular economy of the future
Returnbox is New Loop's solution to the problem of single-use packaging by providing consumers with an easy and accessible system to return their used packaging
During the Sustainability Festival in Aalborg, we placed five Returnboxes in the festival area, and we were met with overwhelming interest from citizens. Participants could drop off their used packaging directly into the box and experience how quickly and easily they got their deposit back.
Great support and valuable insights
The pilot test gave us valuable data and feedback that we will use to further fine-tune the solution. Festival visitors expressed enthusiasm about how easy the Returnbox is to use and many appreciated being able to take an active part in a sustainable endeavour.
In addition, the collaboration with Aalborg Municipality has been crucial in getting the project off the ground. Their focus on sustainability and willingness to promote circular solutions created an ideal showcase for our technology.
Just the beginning
The pilot test in Aalborg is just the beginning. New Loop is dedicated to scaling the Returnbox so that it can become a permanent part of Danes' everyday lives - and already from Q1 2025 it will be possible to spot the Returnbox in the city centre of Copenhagen.

How does it work?
How to get your deposit back
Step 1.
SCAN THE QR CODE ON THE CUP
The first time you use the system, scan the unique QR code on the used packaging with your device and register your account details to receive the deposit transfer.
Step 2.
Scan the qr code on Returnbox
Then scan the QR code on the return container and follow the instructions in the web app throughout the process.
Step 3.
Scan your used packaging
Scan all the packaging you want to return and see an overview of how much deposit you get back.
Step 4.
Return the packaging in the Returnbox
Drop off the scanned packaging in the Returnbox and press finish in the web app. The deposit is automatically paid to the linked card.
