Cafés in the City of Copenhagen

Support the transition to deposit returnable packaging in public spaces with New Loop. We offer an easy and flexible deposit solution and infrastructure that reduces waste and supports an efficient return and recycling system in city centres.

The concept

One partner for the entire recycling cycle

New Loop brings together packaging, return points, deposits, logistics, washing, quality assurance and data into a single, integrated solution. We make it easy to set up and run a well-functioning recycling system – from the moment reusable packaging leaves the café or restaurant until it is returned, washed and ready for use again. With a returns infrastructure, efficient logistics and data on return behaviour, we create a seamless system that makes reuse simple for both businesses and their customers.

How it works

Digital Return Flow

Impact

Recycle exactly where it makes sense

01 - Solar-powered

Outdoor recycling points can be powered by integrated solar panels and batteries.

02 - Flexible positioning

Recycling points can be placed both indoors and outdoors – depending on your needs and the surroundings.

03 - High capacity

Capacity for up to approx. 300–400 cups, depending on the types and mix of packaging.

04 - Always available

Approved operators may empty the recycling points as required – even outside normal opening hours.

Environmental impact

Measurable impact – for the environment and for our partners

New Loop transforms single-use packaging into a circular system in which the packaging is reused time and time again. This reduces the consumption of single-use packaging and makes the impact measurable through data on usage, returns and circulation.

Reduce single-use consumption

Replace single-use packaging with a system where the packaging is reused time and time again.

Make the impact measurable

Track the circulation of packaging, returns, user behaviour and operations.

Make recycling easy to run

Bring together return points, logistics, washing, service and data in a single system.

Build engagement

Use rewards, communication and good causes to make returning items an attractive prospect.

Data & Behaviour

The infrastructure makes recycling possible.
Behavioural insights make it work.

Infrastructure makes it possible to keep packaging in circulation, but it is insight into user behaviour that improves the system over time. New Loop combines data on purchases, returns and movement patterns with feedback from users and partners. This enables us to understand where the system is working well, where barriers arise, and what can be made simpler.

Among other things, we can use these insights to optimise the location of recycling points, our communication about recycling, and the procedures that make it easy for both staff and customers to be part of the system. In this way, recycling becomes not just a solution that is put into operation – but a system that can be continuously improved.

Company scheme

GET A GRANT TO SWITCH FROM DISPOSABLE CUPS TO REUSABLE CUPS

Businesses selling takeaway drinks in Copenhagen and Frederiksberg can receive a grant to join the New Loops recycling scheme. The scheme makes it possible to switch from single-use cups to reusable cups with a deposit – without the business having to handle all the practical arrangements itself.

As part of the scheme, your business will, amongst other things, gain access to returns options for customers, collection, washing and delivery of clean reusable cups, as well as training for staff on how to use the system. You will also receive communication materials and guides to help your customers understand and use the scheme.

New Loop also provides data on, amongst other things, the number of reusable packaging units sold, the return rate, CO₂ savings and waste reduction, so that the impact of the change can be documented.

Do you use between 50-250.000 disposable cups per year, you are eligible for a grant of up to 125,000 DKK for implementation.
